Maintaining strict hygiene in nail care is critical to prevent infections and ensure client safety. Essential items include:
Disinfectants: Hospital-grade solutions like Barbicide or 70% isopropyl alcohol for soaking metal tools (nippers, pushers) between clients.
Autoclaves/UV Sterilizers: For deep sterilization of reusable tools.
Single-Use Items: Disposable files, buffers, toe separators, and liners for pedicure basins.
PPE: Nitrile gloves (latex-free to avoid allergies) and 3-ply masks protect both technicians and clients from chemicals and airborne particles.
Surface Cleaners: EPA-approved sprays or wipes for tables, lamps, and chairs after each service.
Pro Tip: Follow state board protocols—tools must soak for 10+ minutes in disinfectant, and porous items (emery boards) should never be reused.
